What is the Jerusalem which is above?
It is the heavenly Jerusalem, the citizenship of Grace Age believers. This city is not the earthly Jerusalem tied to temple worship; it is free with total liberty and is the mother, or beginning, of all believers. They are tied to it rather than to the earthly temple system.
Les teaches that Philippians 3:20 uses “conversation” for citizenship, and that citizenship is in heaven. When believers were translated into the kingdom of His dear Son, they became citizens of it. He then connects this to Galatians 4:26, explaining that Grace Age believers are not tied to temple worship in earthly Jerusalem but are tied to the heavenly Jerusalem which is above. That Jerusalem is free with total liberty, and it is the mother, or beginning, of us all. In the following verse he returns to the allegory of Ishmael and Isaac.
But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
