Which books should we go to for our basic doctrine today?
For our basic doctrine today, the books to use are Paul’s letters—Romans through Hebrews, or Romans through Philemon if Hebrews is left out. The Book of Acts should not serve as a doctrinal base, since it is a transitional, historical record of God moving from Israel to the Gentiles.
Les teaches that the Book of Acts is not a doctrinal book. It is transitional from a historical point of God dealing with Israel to His turning to the Gentiles. If you try to dig doctrine out of Acts, you will have problems. Instead, for our basic doctrines today, go to Paul’s letters: Romans through Hebrews, or Romans through Philemon if you want to leave Hebrews out. Acts is merely a Book of Transition, and seeing this answers much confusion, because the two economies run side by side until the one drops away and the other takes over.
