What did Satan do right after God promised a Redeemer?

Immediately after God promised the Redeemer would come through the woman's seed, Satan mobilized everything at his disposal to stop that Redeemer's coming. He first brought about Abel's death, then later attacked Israel, seeking to destroy the nation through whom God's prophetic plan and Christ's first coming rested.

Les explains that as soon as God brought Adam and Eve out of the garden and promised that the seed of the woman would produce the Redeemer, Satan immediately put in gear everything at his disposal to stop the coming Redeemer. His first move was the death and murder of Abel, who was in the line of the coming Just One. Then, when Abraham appeared and God made the covenant with him, Satan turned on the little nation that would come from that covenant. Les teaches that throughout Jewish history, the attacks have come from the same Lucifer, the same Satan, trying to thwart God's plan. Since God placed everything concerning prophecy, including Christ's first coming, on Israel, Satan reasoned that if he could destroy Israel, he could destroy God's plan of bringing a Redeemer. At the cross Satan may have thought he had finally succeeded, but resurrection morning proved his defeat, though he still has not quit.
