Why was Israel more advantaged than other peoples?
Israel was more advantaged than any other people because unto them were committed the Word of God. Paul writes that this advantage was 'much every way,' since the Word of God was committed to them. This made them more advantageous than any other group of people.
Les explains that Israel was more advantageous than any other group of people because unto them were committed the Word of God. He points to Romans 2, where Paul writes, 'what prophet then hath the circumcision, much every way, because unto them were committed the Word of God.' Les uses this verse as the basis for claiming that Luke must have been a Jew, because Luke wrote the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, a goodly portion of the New Testament. If Luke were a Gentile, Paul could not have rightly written by inspiration that the circumcision had much advantage every way. An article substantiated this claim, and Les was thrilled to read it.
