Why did Paul say Israel had an advantage over other nations?

Paul taught that Israel's advantage over other nations was that unto them were committed the Word of God. This entrustment of divine revelation set them apart, making them more advantageous than any other group, as God's Word was committed to them.

Les explains that Paul, in Romans 2, said Israel was more advantageous than any other group because unto them were committed the Word of God. Paul's question about the profit of circumcision is answered 'much every way,' because unto them were committed the Word of God. Les uses this verse as the basis for claiming Luke must have been a Jew, since otherwise Paul could not have rightly written it by inspiration. This theme runs through Paul's epistles and is why he is the major writer of the New Testament.
