How did Paul keep preaching the gospel while surrounded by the immorality of the ancient world?
He never slowed down or stopped proclaiming the gospel, even though he was constantly subjected to the gross idolatry, mythology, and immorality of the pagan world. He kept preaching, and out of that immoral pagan world he gained trophies for God’s grace.
Les explains that as he retraced the Mediterranean area where the Apostle Paul labored, he saw the gross idolatry and gross mythology of those places where Paul earned his converts. Paul must have been constantly subjected to all the immorality of that ancient world, which was beyond us. Yet he never slowed down and never stopped proclaiming the gospel. Out of that gross, immoral, pagan world, he got trophies for God’s grace. Les also points out that Paul’s new converts came out of the license and immorality of pagan worship of gods and goddesses, entered a salvation experience, and almost immediately had to be martyred for their faith, not having been saturated for 50 years in Christianity.
