After believing faith, who initiates the action?
After believing faith, God initiates the action. He sends forth the Holy Spirit of promise, the Spirit of His Son, into the believer's heart. The believer does not initiate by works, rituals, or commandments; rather, God precipitates the action and the Spirit enables the cry, "Abba, Father."
Les explains that Israel at the Red Sea illustrates this: with the Egyptian army behind, mountains and obstacles around, and the Red Sea ahead, God did not tell them to build rafts or perform rituals. He said, "Stand still," do nothing, and wait for the power of God. The Red Sea opened, and He led them through. Les says it is the same today: people work and attempt to keep commandments, but God keeps saying, stand still, don't do anything, but believe that it has all been done. Because of the believer's position after believing faith, God precipitates the action. He has sent forth the Spirit—the Holy Spirit of promise, the Spirit of His Son—into hearts, not into a denomination or church building. The Spirit is in every believer's heart, crying, "Abba, Father."
