What is the Arminian notion of common grace?

The Arminian notion of common grace asserts that all men at birth are so wrought upon by the Holy Spirit that they become capable of an unhindered response to the gospel invitation. This misleading and untenable teaching obscures the unsaved natural man's utter incapacity to respond to the gospel.

Les teaches that the Arminian notion of common grace is completely unscripturable and untenable. It asserts that all men at birth are so wrought upon by the Holy Spirit that they are rendered capable of an unhindered response to the gospel invitation. Les says this misleading error, aided by human vanity, became so disseminated that little recognition is given to the unsaved, natural man's utter incapacity to respond to the gospel. In plain terms, he says none of us have anything within us that energizes us to approach God for salvation on our own; it must be the work of the Holy Spirit. He then turns to Scripture, beginning in Matthew 16, where Jesus asks whom men say He is and Peter confesses Him as the Christ, the Son of the living God.
