How many years were there from Abraham to the Passover night in Egypt?

Exactly 430 years passed from the time God brought Abraham out of Ur of the Chaldees and set him toward Canaan until the Passover night in Egypt, when Moses was ready to lead Israel out of captivity. Scripture presents this as precise fulfillment of God's timetable.

Les explains that God's timing is never late or early. He points to Abraham, whom God brought out of Ur of the Chaldees at exactly the right time and set on the path toward Canaan to become the father of the Jewish race. Exactly 430 years later came the Passover night in Egypt, with Moses ready to lead Israel out of captivity. Les also notes a 40-year span from Egypt to the Promised Land, and that the Passover was celebrated on the same day and month 40 years later when Joshua led them across the Jordan River.
