What did God promise Abraham when He called him?
God promised to make of Abraham a separate race of people, a nation that would come through him and his wife. He would let the vast majority go their own way but would work through this little nation. The promises took five hundred years to come to fruition, and then Israel appeared.
Les explains that at the call of Abraham, God did something totally different without ever changing Himself. God told Abraham He would make of him a little separate race of people, letting the vast majority just go on their way, but He would work through this little nation that would come through Abraham and his wife. Though the promises took five hundred years to come to fruition, they came, and the nation of Israel made its appearance. Then God did something again totally different by putting them under the law.
