What is the result of suffering with Christ?
The result of suffering with Christ is that believers will also be glorified with Him. As children of God and joint heirs with Christ, they share in His inheritance; the same relationship that includes suffering with Him also includes being glorified together with Him.
Les explains that the Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God, and if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. He emphasizes that being joint heirs means what is His is ours, and what is ours should be His. Then comes the condition: if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified with Him. Les also illustrates that every child of God is saved and placed positionally in a place of full responsibility, even while beginning as babes feeding on the milk of the Word. So the suffering with Christ leads to being glorified with Him.
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
