How are believers connected to Abraham — through physical descent or spiritually?

Believers are connected to Abraham spiritually, not through physical descent. When they believe the Gospel, they become one in Christ and part of His Body, making them heirs of the promises given to Abraham. Like Abraham, who was saved by faith plus nothing, they become children of Abraham only in the spiritual realm.

Les explains that rich or poor, black or white, east or west, it makes no difference. As soon as a person becomes a believer of the Gospel, they are one in Christ and in the Body, and they then become heirs of the promises made to Abraham. Abraham's promises went far beyond the Nation of Israel. Abraham was saved by faith plus nothing: he did not bring sacrifices for salvation, was not circumcised first, and was not under the Law. He simply believed God. That same faith-plus-nothing salvation ties believers to Abraham, not through earthly progeny, but only in the spiritual realm do they become the children of Abraham.
