How are men and women saved in the faith way?
Salvation in the faith way comes by faith alone, plus nothing, and without the law. Men and women are not saved by keeping the law or by being kept under it; grace says by faith, and faith alone, plus nothing. This stands in contrast to the earlier period under law.
Les teaches that faith began just as soon as God dealt with Adam and Eve after they sinned, and that taking God at His Word was required. He explains that after the word faith he likes to put W-A-Y, speaking of the faith way. Before the faith way came, men and women were kept under the law. But grace does not say, keep the law; grace says by faith, and faith alone, plus nothing. So in the faith way, salvation is by faith plus nothing, without the law. Les also illustrates being under law as a heavy burden, recalling Haiti where huge 100-pound bags of rice were laid on the shoulders of poor women, helping picture what it means to be under the law.
