How are we saved according to Galatians?
According to Galatians, salvation comes by grace through faith, plus nothing—not by the works of the Law. The Spirit is received by the hearing of faith, not by Law-works, and believers are not under Law but under grace. This is the whole theme of Galatians.
Les explains that the question is whether miracles and the Spirit's ministry came by the works of the Law or by the hearing of faith. The Law could not produce such miracles. The Holy Spirit activated the hearts and minds of the pagan Galatians, miraculously transforming them from idolatry and immorality into a whole new lifestyle. Paul's point is that we are not under Law but under grace, and we come under grace and out from under the Law by faith, plus nothing. Les warns not to be suckered into a works religion and to maintain that we are saved by grace through faith, plus nothing.
He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
