Are good people still sinners who need to believe the gospel to be saved?
Yes. Every child of Adam is a sinner by inheritance, not merely by bad behavior. People may be morally good, but they remain sinners until they recognize it and are saved by believing the gospel. Goodness does not remove the Adamic sin problem.
Les teaches that many people, like the young lady who said she had never sinned or done anything immoral, do not understand their real sin problem. He takes them back to Genesis and Adam to show that we are not sinners because we broke God's law; we broke His law because we are sinners, and that began with Adam. Every human being became a sinner in Adam. People are unrighteous and ungodly not because of what they are doing or their lifestyle, but because God decreed every child of Adam a sinner. Les says there can be good sinners, wet sinners, and dry sinners, but all are sinners until they recognize it and are saved by believing the gospel. Paul writes to believers, reminding them that God commended His love while we were yet sinners; they too were once sinners, sons and daughters of Adam.
