What happened at the end of the 430 years in Exodus 12:40-41?
At the end of the 430 years, on the selfsame day, all the hosts of the Lord—the nation of Israel—went out from Egypt. It was the night of Passover, a night to be much observed, when Israel began the Exodus.
Les explains that Exodus 12:40 states the sojourning of the children of Israel who dwelt in Egypt was 430 years. Then at the end of those 430 years, even the selfsame day, all the hosts of the Lord—the nation of Israel—went out from the land of Egypt. He notes this was the night of Passover, a night to be much observed, when Israel begins to Exodus out of Egypt. Earlier in Genesis 15:13, God told Abram his seed would be a stranger in a land not theirs, serve them, and be afflicted 400 years; Les points out the 400 versus 430 difference.
Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.
And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.
