What is a covenant like in Scripture?

In Scripture, a covenant is always a one-way street: it begins and ends with God, and men cannot touch it. They cannot enlarge it or subtract from it. Once confirmed, no man can disannul it or add anything to it.

Les teaches that even though the Law is perfect, holy, and righteous, from the human standpoint it was weak and beggarly and could only point the finger of condemnation at mankind. Because it is a covenant, and every covenant in Scripture is a one-way street that begins and ends with God, men cannot touch it. They cannot enlarge or subtract from it, and once confirmed, no man can disannul it or add thereto.

Galatians 3:15

Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
