Les Feldick Bible Study

What is a covenant in the Bible according to this teaching?

A covenant is an agreement that originates and ends in God. Even though it is made with man, as with Abraham, since it originates and ends with God, regardless of what man does, it never becomes invalid, is never broken, and is never rescinded.

Les explains that the Abrahamic covenant is the agreement God made with Abraham, recorded in Genesis chapter 12, verses 1, 2 and 3. He notes that a covenant by definition is an agreement that originated and ends in God. Even though it is made with man, and will fall into the nation of Israel, because it originates and ends with God, it never becomes invalid, is never broken, and is never rescinded, regardless of what man does. This covenant is the beginning of the kingship idea that Matthew later presents as the Kingdom of Heaven.
