What is total salvation based on?

Total salvation is based on the finished work of the cross, plus nothing. It rests entirely on what Christ accomplished in our behalf, not on human effort or addition. The Old Testament picture of one hanged on a tree as accursed of God previewed His work, and God made Him to be sin for us.

Les explains that this is why he can stand and teach a total salvation based on the finished work of the cross, plus nothing. The requirement that a hanged man not remain all night, because he is accursed of God, was a preview of what Christ accomplished in our behalf. Christ hung on the tree; the rebel's public spectacle pointed to the coming one. In II Corinthians 5:21, God hath made him to be sin for us.
