Les Feldick Bible Study

What is salvation based on according to this Bible teaching?

According to this Bible teaching, salvation is based totally upon faith in the Gospel—what God has said concerning the finished work of the cross. It is not based on repentance, baptism, church membership, tithing, good works, or any other requirement people add.

Les teaches that believers should be aware of what is not in Scripture but that people think should be. He gives an example of reading the verse as if it said salvation is for everyone who repents, is baptized, joins the Church, gives 10%, does good works, and believes. He points out it does not say that. Many such things are wrongly assumed to be requirements for salvation, but they are not. They have a rightful place after salvation, but salvation itself is based totally upon faith in the Gospel, in what God has said concerning the finished work of the cross. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, and in it the righteousness of God is revealed.

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
