How did Christ take the law out of the way?

Christ took the law out of the way by nailing it to His Cross. The handwriting of ordinances that was against us and contrary to us was blotted out, and the Cross finished it, ending the Law. Believers are no longer under its binding power, though they still live under its moral code.

Les explains that the law consisted of 613 ordinances, and it was against us and contrary to us because human nature was always bumping them, so there was no freedom. Christ took it out of the whole system by nailing it to His Cross. The Cross was the end of the Law, and that finished it. Les emphasizes we must never forget this, yet much preaching and teaching remains in the area before the Cross, which is why people can hang on to legalism and all the strings in the commandments. They fail to recognize that the Cross completely finished it. The Lord nailed those things to the Cross, including the Ten. Therefore, we are not under their binding power. However, we are still under their moral code, and Les points to Romans chapter 13 to show the Ten still have a valid role in our Christian experience—but not as a religious dogma.
