What is the Gospel of the Kingdom that Jesus and the twelve preached?
The Gospel of the Kingdom is the message that the King, Jesus of Nazareth, is present and ready to set up the kingdom promised to Israel since Abraham’s covenant. Jesus and the twelve proclaimed this to Israel, declaring that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of Israel.
Les explains that Jesus and the twelve operated under the Gospel of the Kingdom, while Paul preached a different Gospel among the Gentiles. The Kingdom message was simply that the King is here, ready to set up the Kingdom offered to Israel since Abraham was given the covenant. Its whole scope was that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, the Messiah of Israel. By contrast, the Gospel of Grace is that this same Messiah was crucified, shed His blood, was buried, and rose from the dead as Savior of the whole human race, not just Israel.
