What was the Gospel of the Kingdom that Jesus and the twelve preached?
The Gospel of the Kingdom was the message that the King had arrived and was ready to set up the Kingdom promised to Israel since Abraham’s covenant. Its scope was that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, the Messiah of Israel. Jesus and the twelve preached this to Israel.
Les teaches that Jesus and the twelve operated under the Gospel of the Kingdom. That Kingdom message was simply that the King is here, ready to set up the Kingdom offered to Israel since Abraham was given the covenant. The whole scope of that Kingdom message was that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, the Messiah of Israel. This is distinct from Paul’s Gospel, which he preached among the Gentiles after the cross and resurrection, the Gospel of Grace: the same Messiah of Israel who was crucified, shed His blood, was buried, and rose from the dead is the Savior not just of Israel but of the whole human race.
