What did the Lord say Saul was chosen to do?

The Lord told Ananias that Saul was a chosen vessel unto Him, to bear His name before the Gentiles. This declaration identified Saul as divinely selected for the specific purpose of carrying the name of Christ to Gentile people, as the Lord's own words to Ananias stated.

Les explains that many people do not realize this, but when Christ came in His earthly ministry to the nation of Israel, He chose the Twelve and gave them instructions. Here, however, the Lord tells Ananias to go find Saul, for he is a chosen vessel unto Him, to bear His name before the Gentiles. Ananias had objected, mentioning Saul's evil against the saints in Jerusalem and his authority from the chief priests to arrest those who call on the Lord's name. The Lord overruled that objection and sent Ananias anyway.

Acts 9:15
