Les Feldick Bible Study

What do you find at the headquarters of any religion?

At the headquarters and upper echelons of any religion of the world, one finds wealth—tremendous wealth. That wealth is gathered from the peons on the lower levels. Judaism was no different, and this is presented as common sense. The pattern is not unique to one system.

Les explains that Saul had already made headway in Jerusalem and Judea, thought he had cleaned house, and then sought permission to go to Damascus where some Jewish believers had fled. Returning to Galatians 1:14, Les notes that Saul was not only a religious zealot with no mercy, even putting Jewish believers to death, but he was also motivated by money; he profited in the Jews' religion. Les then says he has always told his classes that if you go into any religion of the world and into its headquarters and upper echelons, you find wealth—tremendous wealth. That wealth has come from the peons on the lower levels. Judaism was no different. Les calls this common sense.
