Why did Paul marvel at the Galatian believers?

Paul marveled because the Galatian believers, who had turned from idols to the living God, were being besieged by Judaizers and hoodwinked into returning to legalism, so soon removed from the grace of Christ to another gospel. He could not comprehend how they moved from the Gospel of the Grace of Christ into another gospel.

Les explains that Paul had gotten word that the Galatian believers were being besieged by Judaizers who wanted to bring them back under the Law, practice circumcision, practice temple worship, whatever. Paul says, 'I marvel.' He could hardly comprehend how these people, as seen in Thessalonians, turned from idols to the Living God, and now they were not satisfied but being hoodwinked to go back under legalism. Paul says he cannot comprehend that they were so soon removed from Him who called them into the Grace of Christ. They were moving from the Grace of Christ, or the Gospel of the Grace of Christ, into another gospel. Les notes this was the heart of the matter Paul was addressing.
