What does God require of us regarding the cross?
Regarding the cross, God requires us to believe it. The cross is the bedrock of salvation, and though its power is beyond human comprehension, it is simple enough that all God asks is belief. The world refuses to do so, but faith in the work of the cross is what God requires.
Les teaches that the cross is the very bedrock of our salvation. He explains that Christ humbled Himself, became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross—the most horrible death ever devised. We believe that, and it is so simple that people stumble over it, yet so complex that a thousand years could not comprehend the power of the work of the cross. All God asks us to do is believe it, and the world refuses. He gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from this present evil world, just as Rome rotted from within and America follows the same road.
