Which heaven is Deuteronomy 4:19 talking about?

Deuteronomy 4:19 refers to the second heaven, the realm of the sun, moon, stars, and all the host of heaven. It is not the first heaven, the atmosphere where birds fly, nor the third heaven, the abode of God. It is the area of space.

Les teaches that the Scriptures lay out the first heaven, the second heaven, and the third heaven. The first heaven is the area where the birds fly, our atmosphere. The second heaven is the area of the stars, or what we call space. Deuteronomy 4:19b says, "...and lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven." Les explains that this is not the heaven normally thought of as the abode of God, nor the area where birds fly, so it is the second heaven—the area of space, the sun, the moon, and the stars. Later, Paul in II Corinthians chapter 12 delineates the third heaven as being paradise.

Deuteronomy 4:19

And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.
