Who is behind the false apostles and false teachers?
Satan himself is behind the false apostles and false teachers. They are his ministers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ and ministers of righteousness, just as Satan transforms himself into an angel of light. They use right terminology but are empty of doctrine, deceiving by outward appearance.
Les explains that the false apostles were deceitful workers transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. They used much the same language Paul did, making reference to Christ, His death, burial, resurrection, and the Holy Spirit, but their message was totally empty of doctrine. Paul says it is no marvel, because Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light, appearing as though he is the one to be worshipped and listened to. Therefore, it is no great thing if Satan's ministers also transform themselves as ministers of righteousness. Satan is driving this deception, confusing people by outward appearances, but he remains Satan.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
