How far did Jesus come down from His exalted position in the Godhead?

Jesus descended from the exalted area of the Godhead to become nothing more than a human being like the rest of us. He made Himself of no reputation, took the form of a servant—actually a slave—and was made in the likeness of men, owning none of this world's goods.

Les teaches that as the God of creation who owns everything in the universe, Christ made Himself of no reputation and took the form of a servant. The better term, Les explains, is slave. A slave in antiquity had no material goods; his life was considered worthless. Les illustrates with the rowers in the lower, hot areas of ships, who rowed until they died and were pitched overboard. That is where the Lord Jesus took Himself—to the depths of being a slave with absolutely nothing of this world's goods. Les admits this is unbelievable from the human side and beyond comprehension, but the Word declares that the Almighty God Himself in the person of Christ became a slave and was made in the likeness of men. From the exalted area of the Godhead, He came down to be nothing more than a human being like the rest of us.
