What does God promise if we separate ourselves from the ungodly world?
Scripture teaches that when believers, by God's saving grace, separate themselves from the ungodly world around them, God promises to be a Father to them and to call them His sons and daughters, establishing that relationship with Him as members of the Body of Christ.
Les explains that 2 Corinthians 7:1 flows from the promises just mentioned in chapter 6. If we have the wherewithal, as a result of God's saving grace, to separate ourselves from the ungodly world around us, then God will be a Father unto us, and He will call us sons and daughters. That is our relationship with God as members of the Body of Christ. Having these promises, dearly beloved, we are exhorted to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting, or growing in maturity, in holiness in the fear of God.
