What happens when believers separate from the world?
When believers separate from the world system under Satan's control, they become marked people whom the world recognizes as distinct. They are no longer poured into the world's mold but are transformed, responding to the Holy Spirit rather than conforming to this present age.
Les explains that Paul's plea in Romans 12:2 is not to be conformed to this world, which is under the control of the wicked one, Satan, the god of this world. Using the analogy of hot jello poured into a mold, Les teaches that once set, it takes the shape of the mold. Satan has a mold ready for believers, and the whole world system lies in the lap of the wicked one. But when believers come away from that, they become marked people—the world knows them. This separation is voluntary, not forced; it is a reasonable service of presenting one's body as a living sacrifice, responding as the Holy Spirit leads. The opposite of being conformed is being transformed.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
