Why did God reveal His Son in Paul?

God revealed His Son in Paul so that Paul might preach Christ among the heathen—the Gentiles. This revelation was not received from man or taught by men but came by the revelation of Jesus Christ, giving Paul knowledge of the mystery so that others, when reading, might understand his knowledge in the mystery of Christ.

Les explains that Paul did not receive his message from man, nor was he taught it; he received it by the revelation of Jesus Christ. The reason God revealed His Son in Paul was that Paul might preach Him among the heathen—the Gentiles. Les highlights that Paul immediately conferred not with flesh and blood, did not go up to Jerusalem to the apostles before him, but went into Arabia, returned to Damascus, and after three years went up to Jerusalem to see Peter. This is the background for Paul's constant reference to the knowledge of revelation and the mystery. In Ephesians 3, Les points out that by revelation God made known to Paul the mystery, so that when readers read, they may understand Paul's knowledge in the mystery of Christ. Les notes Paul was not bragging or taking credit but was writing as the Holy Spirit inspired him.
