What do believers become as representatives of heaven?
When a person believes and is placed in Christ, they become a member of the Kingdom of Christ in heaven while remaining on earth as an ambassador. As a representative of heaven, their job is to represent their homeland and become a minister of reconciliation.
Les explains that believers' citizenship is already in heaven, as Paul writes in Philippians 3:20. From that position, we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will change our vile body to be fashioned unto His. The moment a person becomes a believer and is placed in Christ, they are also made members of the Kingdom of Christ in heaven, yet they are left here on earth as ambassadors. Their job is to represent their homeland. As representatives of heaven itself, they become the ministers of reconciliation. Les calls this a great commission that anybody can do, contrasting it with going around baptizing people, which he says he would not be comfortable doing, recalling a famous individual who did so in swimming pools and bathtubs.
