Les Feldick Bible Study

What are Christians supposed to carry out as ambassadors of heaven?

Christians are ambassadors of heaven, representatives of their home government in foreign territory. They are to carry out the designs, hopes, and aspirations of their homeland, which is Christ, extending Heaven on earth. They are also entrusted with the word of reconciliation, telling the lost world that God in Christ has accomplished reconciliation.

Les explains that believers are citizens of Heaven living in a foreign land, and as ambassadors they represent their home government in a foreign country. Their citizenship is in Heaven, so they are to carry out the designs, hopes, and aspirations of their homeland—and that homeland is Christ. They are His ambassadors, the extension of Heaven here on earth. The text says God has committed unto us the word of reconciliation: we are to tell a lost world that everything has been done for them to be reconciled, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. Les also says the true Church, the believer, is like a dam in a river of iniquity. Until He lifts us out, we are to be that dam and stand in the gap, as Ezekiel said to the Jews. If we do not, who will?

2 Corinthians 5:20

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
