Les Feldick Bible Study

How is a believer seated in the heavenlies?

A believer's seating in the heavenlies is in Christ—it is their position in Christ. This spiritual position is linked with spiritual blessings in the heavenlies, coming to the fore as the believer's appetite is no longer on temporal things but on things that last forever.

Les explains that the believer's position in Christ produces spiritual blessings in the heavenlies, and that is how we are seated there—in Christ. He illustrates the changed appetite: he told a man he would be as miserable in that man's saloon on Saturday night as the man would be in church on Sunday morning, because the believer's appetite is now on things spiritual. Les says the Lord gives enough insight that spiritual things last forever, not just seventy years, and in fact it will not be that long. He points to entertainers and wealthy athletes to show the fast lane cannot last; the body cannot take it, and by fifty health is shot. The believer may shun those things, not because he is missing them, though the world thinks so, but because the end result is that his heavenly position comes to the fore. Les then goes back to I Corinthians chapter 12, verse 12, where Paul deals with the one body and its members, still part of Christian experience.

Ephesians 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Ephesians 2:6

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

More Questions

Are believers already seated in heaven with Christ even if they don't feel it?

Christians are already raised up and seated together with Christ in the heavenlies as far as God is concerned, even though they do not feel it.

How do you know you are seated in the heavenlies when your circumstances don't feel like it?

Feelings do not determine spiritual reality—even sitting on a tractor in 110-degree heat where he does not feel like he is in heaven, by faith he knows he really is in the heavenlies.
