Was the church at Ephesus a Jewish or Gentile congregation?

The church at Ephesus was predominantly a Gentile congregation. Although a scattering of Jewish believers existed in all these churches, they were not the majority. The Ephesian believers are described as having been dead in trespasses and sins, a condition true of every human being as offspring of Adam.

Les teaches that Ephesus was a Gentile congregation. He notes there may have been a scattering of Jewish believers in all these churches, but they were predominantly Gentile. Using Ephesians 2:1, Les explains that these believers were made alive though they had been dead in trespasses and sins. He stresses this was not because they were pagan, religiously wrong, or immoral, but because they were sons and daughters of Adam. Every person was dead in sin through Adam, and verse 2 describes them as having lived in the flesh.
