Does every believer have a gift from God that can lead to rewards?
Yes. Not everyone has the same gift, but every believer has something God has given. That gift can be used in service, and it can precipitate rewards. Believers are saved to serve, and rewards come from what they do in the body during this earthly sojourn.
Les explains that salvation is a gift of God, but once we become recipients, God logically expects us to go to work and work for reward. We are not saved to sit; we are saved to serve, and this will be brought about at the seat of Christ. Les also warns not to confuse rewards with crowns—crowns such as righteousness and life are listed, but he does not think they are the same as rewards. Rewards are what we receive as a result of what we have done in the body during this earthly sojourn. Paul listed gifted men given to the church, showing that not everybody has the same gift or works in the same area for reward, but every believer has something, regardless of age. That God-given something can be used as a gift and can precipitate rewards. Paul alludes to this in 1 Corinthians 9 by inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
