What will each believer receive at the judgment seat of Christ?

At the judgment seat of Christ, every believer will receive according to what he has done in his body, whether good or bad. Reward is determined not merely by quantity but by motive: work done out of love for the Lord and for His glory counts for reward; self-exalting work counts as nothing, wood, hay, and stubble.

Les explains that this judgment seat is for believers only, with no unbelievers present. It concerns what believers have done during their earthly sojourn. He stresses that it is not so much about how much was done as the motivation behind it. If someone taught only to show people what he knew, it would count for nothing. Work must be done because we love the Lord and so He receives the glory; then it will count for reward. If it is done to show people how much we can accomplish, it counts for nothing and is only wood, hay, and stubble. The text says each believer may receive the things done in his body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
