Will our departed loved ones know how long they have been gone when we are reunited?

Scripture teaches that a believer's soul and spirit leave the body at death and go immediately into the Lord's presence. In eternity there is no time, so when departed loved ones are reunited with us, they will not suddenly realize how long they have been gone; it will seem as though only hours have passed.

Les teaches that the Bible is fairly silent about the activity and state of departed believers, but it says their soul and spirit leave the body at death and go immediately into the Lord's presence, where they wait for the great Resurrection Day. He explains that in eternity there is no time, so even Adam, dead 6,000 years, will not suddenly realize he has been off the scene that long when Resurrection Day comes; it will be as if only hours have passed. Les illustrates this by taking a loved one to the train depot: they board a front car, you buy a ticket and board a car at the end of the train. The point is that when our departed loved ones are reunited with us, they will not suddenly realize what a long time it has been.
