Les Feldick Bible Study

Why doesn't Les have to tell people to stop doing certain things?

He does not have to tell people to stop doing certain things because faith in the Book does the work. Once people get into the Book and believe what God says, they recognize sin and take appropriate action themselves. The Christian walk is prompted by faith in God, not by someone else's condemnation.

Les explains that people have noticed he doesn't condemn this or that, and he says he doesn't have to. He doesn't have to tell people to stop doing this and stop doing that. The reason is that as soon as they get into the Book and see what the Book says by faith, they will take appropriate action. Faith is what guides a believer not only into salvation but all through the Christian experience, and it is based on what the Book says, not what someone else says. Faith is also the one word for recognizing sin and dealing with sin: unless a person believes what God says about certain activities or acts, he doesn't know it is sin; but when God says it and he believes it, then he knows what it is. The whole daily walk is prompted by faith in God. The first step in salvation is to believe that I am what the Book says I am—short of the glory of God, as Romans 3:23 says. So the conviction and correction come from the Word believed by faith, not from an external list of prohibitions.
