Les Feldick Bible Study

Why did Israel fail to enter the promised land and God's rest?

Israel failed to enter the promised land and God's rest because of unbelief and a lack of faith. They turned away from what God offered, refusing to trust Him. Their unbelief prevented them from enjoying the rest and the land of promise.

Les teaches that Israel's failure was rooted in unbelief. In Hebrews chapter 3, the whole issue rests on their lack of faith. They could have had the very rest of God and the land of promise, but they turned away from it. The context also emphasizes that without faith we cannot please Him, just as without the shedding of blood there is no remission. Their turning away was a rejection of what God offered by faith.

Hebrews 3:16

For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
