Why did God's plan for Israel in the Old Testament fail?
The noble plan of God in His sovereignty was to use Israel to bring the knowledge of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to the ungodly river of humanity, but it did not work because Israel did not believe it.
Les explains that from Genesis chapter 12 through the Book of Acts, God was dealing with the nation of Israel, with few exceptions. He gave them the Abrahamic Covenant, the Law, and the Temple, intending that one day He would funnel them back into the filthy, ungodly river of humanity to bring them a knowledge of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. That was the noble plan of God in His sovereignty, but Les points out that it did not work because Israel did not believe it. The context also traces Old Testament history from Abraham to King David, Solomon, and the first Temple, showing Israel’s central role in God’s program.
