What does Hebrews 4 say about why Israel did not enter the promised land?

Paul, by inspiration, in Hebrews 4 explains that Israel did not enter the promised land because of unbelief, not because of immorality or any other sin. Though they had been guilty of much immorality, the decisive reason was their refusal to believe what God said.

Les explains that Hebrews chapter 4, where Paul writes by inspiration, looks back on Israel’s 40 years wasted in the wilderness. They could have gone into the land of promise, but they did not because of unbelief—not because of immorality, even though they had been guilty of much. It was not any other thing but unbelief. Les applies this to Christianity today: the problem is unbelief, when people cannot simply say they believe what God says. The intellectual world, with all its intelligence and education, dismisses Scripture, leading many to ask how they can believe it. That unbelief gets to the very heart of God.
