Why are we told to exhort one another daily?
Exhortation is commanded daily while it is called today, while opportunity remains, so that no one becomes hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. It encourages continued faith in God's Word, which guides the daily walk and reveals sin. Faith is the key to recognizing and dealing with sin.
Les explains that we are to exhort one another daily while it is called today, while we still have this kind of opportunity, lest any be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. He asks how we recognize and deal with sin, and answers with one word: faith. Unless we believe what God says about certain activities or acts, we do not know that it is sin; but when God says it and we believe it, then we know what it is. Our whole daily walk is prompted by faith in God. Romans 3:23 says all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and Les says that is the first step in salvation—to believe that I am what the book says I am, short of the glory of God. Faith guides us not only into salvation but all through our Christian experience. It is all based on what the book says, not what someone else says. Les notes he does not have to condemn this or that, because as soon as people get into the book and see what it says by faith, they will take appropriate action.
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
