Why did God give us preachers and teachers?
God gave preachers and teachers to preach and teach His Word so people can understand that all they must do is believe. This brings them to the point of salvation and keeps them from falling under God's condemnation, because believing requires no work or energy.
Les teaches that God's whole purpose in giving us this book is to bring us to the point of salvation, so every human being must reach that point to escape God's wrath. God does everything He can to keep every person from falling under condemnation, and He has made it available. He has given us the Word and men willing to preach and teach it, so we can understand that all we have to do is believe. Believing takes no energy; it is simply accepting what God has said, no questions asked. Les recalls someone quoting J. Vernon McGee, saying believing is the only thing man can do without working, and Les agrees. When we believe, like Isaiah, we are immediately clothed with the garments of salvation and covered with the robe of righteousness, the full opposite of Romans 3.
