How is Christ our propitiation according to Romans 3:26?

According to Romans 3:26, Christ is our propitiation when we believe. He is the perfect sacrifice who fulfilled all the demands of a holy God, and He is also the holy God. Therefore He is both just and the justifier of the one who believes in Jesus.

Les explains that Romans 3:26-27 follows the tabernacle picture. The human priests were temporary and repeated their sacrifices year after year, but Christ's finished work was once, obtaining eternal redemption. Coming back to Romans 3:26, Les says Christ is our propitiation if we just believe it. He has done it all and is the whole tabernacle. He declares His righteousness at this time so He might be just as well as the justifier—the perfect sacrifice who fulfilled every demand of a holy God, and also the holy God. He is the justifier of the one who believes in Jesus the Christ, the resurrected one.

Romans 3:26

To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
