How is Christ made a propitiation according to Romans 3:25?

God set forth Christ Jesus, who shed His blood and paid redemption's price, to be a propitiation through faith in His blood. Christ is made a propitiation when we place our faith in His blood, enabling God to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins.

Les explains that Christ Jesus, having shed His blood and paid the price of redemption, was set forth by God to be a propitiation. This is through faith—specifically faith in His blood. Les emphasizes that propitiation is a big word most people slip over, yet both faith and the blood appear within half a verse. When we place our faith in His blood, God can declare His righteousness again for the remission of sins that are passed through the forbearance of God. Les then says he will examine the word propitiation, as previously in Exodus, and directs attention to 1 John 2:1-2, reading “My little children” and calling it a term of endearment.
