What was the Ark of the Covenant made of?
The Ark of the Covenant was made of wood covered with pure gold. It was essentially a hollow box, and the same Hebrew word is brought out as coffin. It was not solid gold; it was wood overlaid with pure gold.
Les explains that after passing behind the veil into the final little 15-by-15-foot room, the Ark of the Covenant is found. Despite Hollywood's attention in recent years, it was simply wood covered with pure gold, just a hollow box. He notes that the same Hebrew word is brought out as "coffin." The context then poses a question about what is inside the Ark, but it does not answer that question in this unit.
