What was the Ark of the Covenant made of and what does its Hebrew word mean?
The Ark of the Covenant was made of wood covered with pure gold. It was simply a hollow box. The Hebrew word used for it is the same word brought out as 'coffin.' So its basic meaning is coffin, describing a box-like receptacle.
Les explains that after passing behind the veil into the final small room, described as 15 by 15 feet, there was the Ark of the Covenant. He notes that thanks to Hollywood, many people have heard of it in recent years. The Ark itself was, again, wood covered with pure gold, and it was just a box. The same Hebrew word is brought out as coffin. It was a little hollow box. Les then asks his audience what was inside that Ark, indicating he could not find the answer and inviting someone to tell him.
